Salary Schedule: TSS – 260 days

 

SUMMARYThis position is responsible for installing, repairing, and building items; identifying repair and/or replacement needs; assisting other skilled trades; completing construction projects safely and within established budget and time constraints; providing necessary information on the proper uses of the equipment; and ensuring adequate materials are available to complete assignments in a timely manner.

1. Construct items (e.g., bulletin boards, white boards, cubbies, bookcases, and shelving out of Melamine etc.)  for modifying and/or adapting facilities to meet specific needs of the staff and classrooms. Estimates materials and/or equipment needed to complete projects to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of projects.

2. Utilize computers to document progress and complete work orders, complete yearly safety course requirements, check emails, and other personal records. Communicates with other employees/supervisors regarding procedures and/or status of work orders providing necessary information for making decisions, taking appropriate action, and/or complying with health and safety regulations.

3. Inspects facilities to ensure safety and identify necessary repairs; provides an ongoing program of preventive maintenance. Assesses, trouble shoots, and repairs motorized equipment such as bleachers, back boards, and folding walls/curtains.

4. Installs system component parts, classroom/office equipment, and facility components (e.g. portable walls, doors, windows, door hardware, counter tops, TV brackets, suspended ceilings, etc.) for maintaining facilities in a safe, comfortable, and operating condition.

5. Repairs various items, systems, and/or components (e.g. furniture, cabinets, countertops, suspended ceilings, lunchroom tables, bathroom partitions etc.) to ensure that items are available and in safe working condition.

6. Remodels office and workspace including partitions, paneling, etc. to ensure safe and efficient utilization of space.

7. Utilize equipment (scissor lifts, JLGs, Bucket trucks etc.) to reach heights that are beyond conventional ladders. Using PPE properly for performing tasks that are in the air.

8. Responds to emergency situations during or after school hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.

9. Transports various items such as tools, powered equipment, materials, etc. to ensure the availability of materials and equipment required at a job site. Utilize a variety of power tools and shop equipment to construct items requested by staff and schools.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent, required
  • 3-5 years’ experience in carpentry related field, preferred

 

 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Criminal background check required for hire.
  • Valid state issued Driver’s License, required
  • Must obtain and maintain Defensive Driving certificate by the conclusion of the district-provided training course

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:

  • Operating knowledge of and?experience with personal computers and peripherals?
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as?telephones, copier, fax machine, etc.? Operating knowledge?of and experience with office productivity programs, such as Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail, etc.
  • Operating knowledge of district information technology systems and department-specific?software and equipment required within 3 months after entering position
  • Operational knowledge of all powered equipment used to perform job functions
