SUMMARY: The LCSD #1 Mental Health Coordinator position is for the purpose of improving safe and healthy school environments. The job of the Mental Health Coordinator will be to lead the development and implementation of evidence-based social-emotional-behavioral health practices and programs across all tiers of the district’s Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) with a focus on prevention and early intervention for all students. The job of the Mental Health Coordinator will also be to support the implementation and improvement of evidence-based dropout prevention strategies and programs in the district.

1) Collaborates and provide support to school-based mental health practitioners (school counselors, school social workers, school psychologists) and administration in the development of a comprehensive evidence-based multi-tiered system of support aligned to both the district and school’s mission and vision statements. |
2) Collaborates with school-based mental health practitioners, teachers, and staff to expand access to or coordinate resources for school-based mental health programs using evidence-based practices. |
3) Coordinates and collaborates with school-based mental health providers within the district to identify and implement service delivery through a structured multi-tiered system of support. |
4) Collaborates with all staff to reduce the use of exclusionary discipline practices by promoting supportive school discipline with a focus on early intervention. |
5) Coordinates and provides professional development for school-based mental health practitioners in the effective implementation of evidence-based prevention and intervention measures across the tiers of support. |
6) Uses data to assess the effectiveness of the district’s multi-tiered system of support and report annual social-emotional-behavioral outcomes to the district community. |
7) Models and facilitates collaboration between administrators, staff, and parents for the purpose of gaining information and/or discussing needs from families, teachers, and other school staff to inform the selection of programming for student success. |
8) Facilitates and participates in a variety of meetings, workshops, trainings and seminars (e.g. community agencies, HOPE meetings, administrative meetings, families, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and gathering information regarding a wide variety of subjects required to carry out the job responsibilities. |
9) Collaborates with school MTSS teams for the purpose of creating cohesive plans that assist students and their families as they identify paths to success for graduation, with a focus on developing early warning systems for identifying students at risk for dropping out. |
10) Develops, trains, and monitors district and school-wide systems and procedures to identify students who have dropped out or have reentered an alternative program for the purpose of re-engaging them in their education through outreach services and other evidence-based practices. |
11) Collects and interprets data on dropouts for the purpose of identifying students who would benefit from the services provided by the outreach program. |
12) Collects, analyzes, and communicates data to identify gaps in achievement, attendance, discipline, opportunity and resources, to develop goals based upon student, school and district data to close the achievement gap and reduce the district’s dropout rate. |
13) Assists building administrators in identifying traditional and nontraditional avenues to earn credits for graduation for non-traditional learners, including efforts to re-engage students who have dropped out or who have reentered an alternative program for the purpose of helping to ensure they become a successful graduate. |
14) Designs materials for the purpose of providing information and guidance to families regarding graduation requirements, which contributes to improved student performance and family engagement. |
15) Facilitates parent meetings, workshops, forums, surveys for the purpose of conveying information, problem solving concerns, or gathering stakeholder input around social-emotional-behavioral prevention and intervention strategies. |
16) Maintains a variety of confidential and non-confidential manual and electronic lists and records (e.g. action plans, activity logs, phone logs, referrals, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing up-to-date reference and audit trail for the Wyoming Department of Education report. |
17) Responds to issues involving students, community concerns and parental requests for the purpose of identifying the relevant issues and recommending or implementing a plan of action that will efficiently resolve the issue. |
18) Facilitates and participates in a variety of meetings, workshops and committees for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions and remaining knowledgeable with program guidelines. |
19) Provides reports using data and information gathered for the purpose of federal and state reporting. |
20) Serves on various district level committees relevant to the role and as assigned. |
21) Perform other duties as assigned. |

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of a master's degree and state board/PTSB licensure in school counseling, school social work, or school psychology required
- Experience working across multiple grades in the public school system preferred
- 5 years of experience preferred.
- Experience working with Community Service and Outreach preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education, experience, and licensure acceptable.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:
- Criminal background check required for hire.
