SUMMARYThis position is responsible for analyzing, planning, testing, implementing, managing, and maintaining automation to current and new district processes. This role will provide level 2 support to the computer technicians. This job also provides implementation, optimization and administration of Microsoft’s Active Directory and Office 365 systems.

1. Assists Network Engineers in implementing solutions to automate district processes over a variety of applications/software.

2. Trains new Hardware Technicians on the skills and procedures needed to perform their job, performs work on-site with technicians training and mentoring them, and validates training and processes.

3. Manages and updates Microsoft Active Directory to provide a consistent and accurate experience for technicians and users.

4. Provides level 2 support for Field Service Technicians and Hardware Technicians. Works with end users and other members of the DOT to resolve issues and makes suggestions for long term solutions.

5. Primary technician for Poder Academy employees and backup technician for CLAS, ADT, EDT, Juvenile Detention Center, and the Administration Building.

6. Assists in building coverage when Hardware Technicians or Field Service Technicians are out for an extended period.

7. Assists with annual network or department projects which can include selecting and managing temporary employees.

8. Assists in the management of network/server services to ensure an effective network/server, such as Mobile Device Management (MDM), Active Directory, back-ups, configuration, customer Service Level Agreements (SLAs), disaster recovery, Domain Name System (DNS), email, inventory, IP addressing, logical architecture, network traffic monitoring/shaping, non-technical [end user] training, performance statistics, physical architecture, quality control, remote access, security, service, service architecture, service records, technical training, and vendor SLAs.

9. Participates in trainings, meetings, and other professional development opportunities (e.g.

relating to network/server services) to maintain current technical knowledge within the department.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent, required
  • 1-3 years’ experience required.
  • Experience can be substituted with progressive coursework in computer or information systems, or another related field

 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Criminal background check required for hire.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), preferred
  • CompTIA Network , preferred

  • Uses pertinent office software, diagnostic applications, and system applications
  • Ability to upgrade skills periodically, or as needed

  • Operating knowledge of district information technology systems and department-specific?software and equipment required within 1 month after entering position
