SUMMARY: Manage and assist in the completion of the day-to-day activities, involving the maintenance of the building/facility, equipment and machinery including building lighting systems, machines, equipment, grounds keeping, and overall facility appearance. Supervise and coordinate the work of employees who repair and maintain building/facility, equipment and machinery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
· Prepare work schedules, assign work, and oversees the work product (while minimizing overtime and call-in hours).
· Coach, counsel and manage performance of employees who directly report to this position.
· Develop and maintain Preventive Maintenance Schedule program for applicable equipment and machinery.
· Arrange for and manage, appropriate third-party contractor support, as needed.
· Secure requisitions, estimates and cost quotes as needed.
· Enforce sound safety and housekeeping practices.
· Inspects facilities and equipment to determine need and extend of service/repair.
· Must be available in case a maintenance emergency arises at any LARC facility, to include weekends and holidays.
· Required to attend on-going in-services training.
· Performs all other reasonable duties, as assigned.
· Performs other routine duties or as assigned by Supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises employees that are classified as Maintenance Helper. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· High School/Technical School diploma required.
· Previous supervisory experience desirable.
· Requires minimum of 2 years related experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, interpret and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Current driver’s license and vehicle insurance with required Louisiana limits.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
· Demonstrated mechanical and electrical knowledge and repair abilities.
· Ability to manage multiple complicated priorities/tasks
· Exhibit strong judgment and decision-making skills
· Computer literate
· Ability to interface with all types of mechanical and construction maintenance.
· Ability to operate tractor with front-end loader, bush-hog and box-end scrapper
