Primary Function: The Enrichment Teacher will develop and implement an integrated curriculum that utilizes constructivist instructional methods appropriate for each grade level. Create a healthy and safe learning environment that demonstrates respect for all and supports student success. Communicate and partner effectively with parents to support student learning. Evaluate student learning and adapt to evaluation data to continually improve our academic program. This position is also responsible for supporting the academic and socio/emotional growth of our diverse group of students. The Enrichment Teacher communicates regularly with parents and establishes positive relationships with all stakeholders in our learning community.
Essential Functions:
Lead students to rigorous and measurable academic outcomes by:
- Supporting the design of a rigorous, well-rounded, environmentally sensitive program
- Planning, preparing, and implementing lesson plans that utilize a variety of instructional strategies based on constructivism
- Differentiating teaching based on the diverse and individual needs of all students
- Maintaining high expectations for students’ learning and overall conduct
- Assisting lead teachers with instruction in the general classroom during the times you are not teaching to support subject matter integration
- Participating regularly in professional development and reflecting on teaching practice
- Communicating and building positive relationships with students, student's families, colleagues and other stakeholders
- Working collaboratively in a professional learning community and participating in curriculum and developmental programs, as applicable.
- Works with other teachers to create and implement an interdisciplinary curriculum.
- Using multiple student learning outcomes to inform learning progress and instructional practices
- Providing individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities
- Developing authentic ways of assessing student progress, and maintaining records of student learning
- Planning and presenting displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students’ work for the school and the community
- Maintaining adequate records of student learning
Classroom Management, Relationships, and Tone
- Create a healthy and safe learning environment and build personal relationships with all students that demonstrate respect and compassion for all and supports student success.
- Teaches social-emotional skills though the curriculum
- Maintain a classroom atmosphere which is safe, accepting, positive, and interactive.
- Create opportunities for students to learn with and from each other through varied groupings, partnerships, and shared learning experiences.
- Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment
- Organize storage areas and control use of materials, equipment and tools to prevent loss or abuse, and to minimize time required for distribution and collection
Communications
- Communicate effectively, both orally & in writing, with students, parents, & other professionals routinely.
- Communicate and partner effectively with parents to support student learning.
- Respond to parent and colleague communications in a respectful and timely manner.
- Complete and submit lesson plans, assessment data, progress reports, narratives, and other documentation as requested to supervisor and involved colleagues in a timely manner.
- Participate professionally in scheduled meetings
Professionalism and Teamwork
- Model professional behaviors and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and the broader community.
- Maintain reliable, consistent attendance and punctuality.
Other Functions:
- Adhering to school policies, procedures and deadlines
- Assist in before/afterschool carpool
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Assist in other school programs when necessary
Knowledge of:
Constructivist learning theory and its translation and application in the grade level of assignment; Classroom management strategies and approaches to creating and maintaining a classroom environment of safety, respect, and learning; Cultural and socio-economic differences in the student population; Conflict resolution strategies to support healthy social development in children; Professional skills for collaboration and teamwork with other education professionals; Written and oral communications skills.
Ability to:
Apply constructivist theory to curriculum development; Translate standards into creative, integrated, project-based activities; Create and maintain a safe, respectful learning environment; Meet the needs of a diverse student population; Support student social and emotional development; Work collaboratively and professionally with the Larchmont Schools team; Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to support student success. Use modern technology for teaching, communicating and reporting.
Physical Requirements:
Continual speaking; standing for long periods of time; frequent sitting, reaching, walking, bending, grasping and pinching; occasional lifting and carrying, squatting, twisting or kneeling.
Environment:
Uneven surfaces, noise, quick work pace. Requires that the incumbent work effectively under stressful situations and respond to the unpredictable behaviors of students. Frequent use of computer screen. Occasionally involves working outdoors and exposure to inclement weather. Infrequently involves exposure to traffic congestion. May rarely involve exposure to biohazardous waste.

Minimum Qualifications:
(*) Bachelor’s Degree
(*) Valid CA Single Subject Teaching Credential
(*) Valid CA English Learner Authorization
(*) TB Test clearance & DOJ fingerprinting clearance
(*) Familiarity with constructivist pedagogy
(*) An enthusiasm for curriculum development to support a growing school program
Salary : $45,350 - $73,213
