Location: Larchmont, NY

Annual Salary: $100K–$115K

We are seeking a Membership Engagement and Development Director to join our passionate team and play a key role in expanding and nurturing our sacred community or “Kehilah”. This new position reports to the Executive Director.

What You’ll Do

Member Engagement

• Welcome new members and help them feel at home in our vibrant, inclusive community.

• Develop strategies to recruit, onboard, and engage members at every life stage.

• Plan and oversee meaningful programming opportunities, targeting specific populations, working with staff and senior leadership on logistics, promotions, and communications.

• Create opportunities for members to connect through shared interests and build lasting relationships.

• Collaborate with clergy, staff, and lay leaders to deepen member involvement.

Development

• Build relationships and further a culture of giving within our congregation.

• Plan fundraising initiatives, including donor cultivation and major gift solicitation.

• Oversee donor events, communications, and stewardship activities.

• Provide campaign updates and progress reports for senior staff and leadership.

Communications

• Partner with communication staff to create inspiring and engaging content for the above activities.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: 3-5 years in member engagement, development and/or donor relations.

• Skills: Strong project management, relationship building, and communication abilities.

• Tech Savvy: Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office or similar, email marketing, and social media platforms.

• Personal Skills: Empathy and understanding when interacting with congregants, enthusiasm about meeting the challenges of a dynamic team environment, and ability to handle matters with discretion, diplomacy, and confidentiality.

• Jewish Knowledge: Familiarity with Jewish practices and synagogue life preferred.

• Flexibility: Willingness to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
