Position Overview
We are seeking Seasonal Facilities & Grounds Assistants to join our Facilities team between April 1 and October 31. In this hands-on role, youll contribute to the daily care, upkeep, and preservation of LYCs buildings, landscape, and equipment. This position is ideal for individuals who take pride in outdoor work, value craftsmanship, and enjoy contributing to a team that maintains one of the most iconic waterfront properties in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general repairs and maintenance across the Clubs historic buildings and facilities, including basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, and HVAC support.
- Operate and maintain landscaping and groundskeeping equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers).
- Ensure the cleanliness, safety, and upkeep of outdoor areas, walkways, and club amenities.
- Assist with preventative maintenance routines for Club equipment and infrastructure.
- Monitor and support the performance of HVAC units, refrigerators, ice makers, and other essential equipment.
- Install or repair tile, drywall, brickwork, and similar finishes as needed.
- Respond to maintenance requests and complete tasks assigned by the Director of Facilities & Grounds or senior leadership.
- Attend departmental meetings and contribute to a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Prior experience in facilities maintenance, landscaping, or groundskeeping preferred.
- Working knowledge of hand and power tools; basic familiarity with trades such as electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
- Strong attention to detail, a can-do attitude, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful work environment.
Physical Requirements & Work Conditions
- Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Frequently required to lift, bend, climb, kneel, and engage in repetitive motions.
- May be exposed to loud noise, vibrations, or moving mechanical parts.
- Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods.
