Duties:

The position
Responsibilities:
Be motivated and work productively. Daily, set exemplary standards of ethics and care of the employer’s resources and property; support company philosophies and goals; function as a team player; and help maintain good communication within the department and between the department and others within the facility.
- Identifies workplace hazards and takes necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize them. Takes overall responsibility for implementation and enforcement of the facility safety plan within the department.
- Assures that sanitation and housekeeping procedures are carried out properly within the facility and department safety plan.
- Exercises compassion and respect in all interactions with residents and families.
- Attends work regularly without excessive absences or tardiness.
- Assists cooks as requested and directed in the preparation of meals and snacks.
- Follows and meets HACCP and Mesa County Health Department sanitation standards during meal preparation.
- Passes Snacks to residents on scheduled intervals.
- Prepares food carts, wraps silverware, lines tray and completes other preparations for meal service.
- Checks status of various beverage dispensers and refill as necessary.
- Washes with soapy water and/or sanitizing solution surfaces of food preparation and serving areas, equipment, walls, floors and other items or areas as directed.
- Assists in serving hall carts and dining room meals in a timely manner, making sure residents received all food requested and food/drink according to their therapeutic needs.
- Serves food according to portion and quality control; checks food to be served for proper service temperatures.
- Uses care in use of supplies and equipment, and reports equipment and supply need to the Dietary Director.
- Ensures cooking and food supplies are stocked and well organized.

Experience:
- Previous experience in a dietary or food service role is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of basic food preparation and cooking techniques are a plus
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
- Excellent communication skills
