Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Director of Alumni Relation is responsible in advancing the College's and the Division's fundraising agenda, and gift solicitation including activities and initiatives that support the College's mission.
As an employee of Laredo College, you are expected to adhere to the LC Employee Handbook, the LC Local and Legal policies () and the Vice President of Institutional Advancement's (VPIA) expectations and protocols at all time.
In addition, a confidentiality agreement should be signed every year on NEOED.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Development and Vice President of Institutional Advancement (IA) in developing and maintaining processes, programs, and activities to promote the receipt of gifts from the community and place Laredo College in a favorable light within the community and promote a team environment and inclusivity.
- Solicit alumni support for the College's mission and goals using a strategic approach to secure funding for college projects and programs. The solicitation and alumni strategic plan should include annual giving, stewardship, donor relations and general fundraising and are the responsibility of everyone in the department.
- Undertake campaigns and activities which inform the community of the College's needs for external funding that support the College's mission.
- Assist the College in the development and implementation of fundraising activities to support the College's mission.
- Provide insight and training on BANNER and other office financial / advising college related software.
- Maintain databases thru the use of Raiser's Edge, college Banner System for contacting distinguished alumni, friends, donors, and community leaders.
- Maintain databases which record gifts to the College and the College's stewardship of those gifts including impact books and accounting data by month and year.
- Keeps Development website up to date with all donations awarded including press releases supporting said awards.
- Serve as the lead on alumni database by semester and track donations thereafter.
- Create Alumni funding initiatives that result in resources for the College supporting its mission.
- Build and maintain relationships with potential donors, donors, alumni and community.
- Monitor social and civic community events affecting donors including major news, accomplishments, celebrations, passing of family / relatives and / or friends, etc.
- Assist and participate in College-wide fundraising activities with the Development Team and VP of Institutional Advancement's Office that helps secure donor funds for the College. This may include President designated events.
- Provide input and assist in the creation of letters, brochures, pamphlets, and proposals in support of gift solicitation and donor recognition activities as a department.
- Maintain relationships with schools, community groups, philanthropic organizations, and businesses that support the College's mission and goals as designated by the VP of Institutional Advancement and / or President.
- Understand and stay informed of all funding areas of the Laredo College Education Foundation.
- Assist in securing monetary awards contributed by private donors, foundations, donor grants and alumni for scholarship purposes.
- Work directly with the Laredo College Accounting Department, specifically with the accountants assigned to alumni / employee giving on balances and reports. Reports must be up to date.
- Assist in acquiring matching funds for College-related needs that support the college's mission and strategic plan. Work as a department.
- Work with Development team on institutional effectiveness goals and outcomes for the Development Department.
- Understand and assist in the preparation of financial reports on new / existing donors, foundations, and grants by month.
- Stay in communication with the Development team, Grants, and Community & Media Relations departments on any events and activities that impact the College funding and / or advancement. This includes departments outside of the IA Division.
23. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director and the VP of Institutional Advancement.
