Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Global Learning and Leadership Initiatives Coordinator in the BASORGL department supports student engagement in international experiences and leadership development. This role serves as the primary point of contact for study abroad students, providing guidance on application processes, visa requirements, financial aid, and cultural preparedness. The coordinator facilitates partnerships with educational travel organizations to expand global learning opportunities and oversees program administration, including student records management, financial tracking, and compliance with institutional and international regulations. In collaboration with Safety & Risk Management personnel, the coordinator develops travel preparedness and risk management strategies to ensure student, faculty, and staff safety. This role also supports the Level 1 Certificate in Leadership by serving as an academic coach and supervising experiential learning projects. Teaching responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Student Support & Global Engagement
  1. Serve as the primary point of contact for students participating in study abroad programs, assisting them before, during, and after their experience.
  2. Advise students on study abroad logistics, including application processes, visa requirements, financial aid, and cultural preparedness.
  3. Encourage students to experience and understand diverse cultures through international experiences.
  4. Provide guidance and resources to help students navigate cultural adjustment before, during, and after their study abroad experience.
  5. Develop and facilitate intercultural competency workshops to help students maximize their global learning experience.
  6. Coordinate study abroad outreach efforts, such as information sessions, recruitment events, and campus-wide promotional campaigns.
  7. Act as a liaison between the department, college, and educational travel organizations to ensure seamless program execution.
Safety & Compliance
  1. Develop and implement a travel preparedness and response strategy to ensure student, faculty, and staff safety, working with college Safety & Risk Management personnel.
  2. Ensure compliance with all institutional, federal, state, and international regulations governing study abroad programs.
  3. Create and update risk management guidelines for study abroad programs, including emergency procedures and crisis response planning.
  4. Facilitate pre-departure safety briefings and risk assessment sessions to prepare students and faculty for international travel.
Administrative & Program Management
  1. Manage student records and study abroad applications, including reviewing applications and administering related scholarships.
  2. Hire, guide, and supervise student workers in study abroad-related tasks.
  3. Maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with various campus offices (Enrollment, Financial Aid, etc.) to resolve student and program issues.
  4. Oversee financial tracking, budgeting, and scholarship fund allocation for study abroad programs.
  5. Oversee marketing and promotional strategies for study abroad programs, including digital media and website updates.
  6. Foster partnerships with international institutions, exchange programs, and third-party providers as needed to expand global learning opportunities.
Coaching & Academics
  1. Be available to teach as needed in the Organizational Leadership department, integrating global learning and leadership principles.
  2. Serve as an academic coach to students in the Level 1 Certificate program, providing guidance on coursework and career development.
  3. Supervise experiential learning projects for Level 1 certificate cohorts.
  4. Collaborate with faculty and campus departments to facilitate international education and enhance global engagement.
  5. Support faculty in integrating global learning experiences into coursework and curriculum development.
  6. Evaluate program effectiveness through assessments, student feedback, and data analysis to enhance future study abroad initiatives.

Required:
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Leadership, Administration, Management, or a related field. 
  • Coordinator credentials must meet the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) required criteria for teaching within the Organizational Leadership lower-level courses in the department.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in education, preferably with a background in international programs or study abroad initiatives.
  • Familiarity with online teaching platforms and other educational technologies is essential.
Preferred:
  • A master’s degree.
  • Experience in teaching higher education courses.
  • Excellent oral and written skills 
  • Excellent organizational skills 
  • Knowledge of online technology such as Learning management systems, Zoom, etc. 
  • Time and project management skills 
  • Ability to work in a team

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.  
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.  
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Work is performed in a standard office environment.
