Job Title: Database Administrator Client: State of Georgia Location: Atlanta GA-Hybrid Preference for local candidates Qualifications And Preferred Skills Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or related field Proven experience as a Database Administrator, particularly with Oracle and PostgreSQL Strong knowledge of database design, data modeling, and SQL Experience with database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security practices Familiarity with scripting languages like Python, Shell for automation tasks Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail Strong communication and collaboration abilities Certifications in Oracle Database Administration (OCA, OCP) and PostgreSQL Experience with additional database technologies or cloud databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL) Knowledge of database high availability solutions and clustering Key Responsibilities Installing, configuring, and maintaining Oracle and PostgreSQL databases Performing database backups, restores, and disaster recovery operations Monitoring database performance and optimizing queries and indexes for improved performance Analyzing and resolving performance issues through query optimization, indexing, and tuning Implementing and monitoring database performance metrics and alerts Conducting regular database health checks and performance reviews Ensuring database security through user management, access control, and encryption Implementing and enforcing database security policies and compliance requirements Monitoring and auditing database activities to detect and respond to security threats Applying patches, updates, and upgrades to databases and related systems Managing database migrations and version upgrades with minimal downtime Developing and maintaining documentation for database configurations, procedures, and policies Providing technical support and troubleshooting for database-related issues Collaborating with development and operations teams to resolve database-related problems Participating in on-call rotation and responding to critical incidents as needed Designing and implementing robust backup and recovery strategies for databases Testing and validating backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability Monitoring backup processes and addressing any issues related to backup failures.
