After a probationary period, the attorney in this role would be considered for hybrid work (up to 50% hybrid). After 1 year at the District Court level, this employee will be put on the on-call schedule.
What you'll be doing:
- Reviewing and analyzing felony case filing materials, including examining evidence, witness statements, the nature of the crime, and determining whether the evidence supports continued prosecution. This includes making independent filing decisions.
- Conducting legal research, preparing reports, and developing recommendations to enhance District Attorney’s Office policies, procedures, and operations.
- Intake work, but may represent the office in felony-level criminal calendar proceedings, including the scheduling of cases, plea negotiations, probation revocation hearings, motions, and sentencings.
- Acting as the prosecuting attorney in both jury and court trials, ensuring justice is served through thorough preparation and effective litigation.

What we're looking for:
- An experienced attorney with multiple years of prosecution experience, particularly in felony-level cases.
- Able to manage intake work, able to transition to handle district court cases, and may move between the Juvenile, District Court, and SVU units.
- Experienced prosecutor with at least 5 years of prosecution experience. A Deputy District Attorney III is generally responsible for prosecuting all felony criminal matters.
- Advanced independent discretion and judgment skills related to legal procedures, work methods, and case strategies.
- Three years of experience in criminal prosecution, with demonstrated experience handling felony cases.
- Current license to practice law in Colorado or obtain it within two (2) months of hire required.
