What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Health Nurse II position at Larimer County?
This position will provide clinical services primarily in a clinic setting with some opportunity for off-site clinics as well. This role participates in a collaborative, team-based model of care within the county's Immunization Services and Reproductive Health Services programs.

- Administers vaccines, medications and dosages according to assigned schedules, being aware of potential side effects and contraindications, and adheres to requirements for vaccine and medication storage and handling.
- Provides comprehensive travel health and safety consultations for people traveling abroad that may include administering vaccines, providing medication, and education on safety precautions.
- Provides sexual/reproductive health services that include provision of contraception, pregnancy testing, and sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment.
- Operates independently under physician standing orders.
- Maintains accurate and complete client files and records.
- Serves as a resource to community agencies, schools and other health professionals regarding questions related to immunizations or sexual/reproductive health.
- Have a working knowledge of communicable diseases, immunizations and/or sexual and reproductive health.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Evaluate and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Use electronic health record systems for documentation of patient encounters.
- Interpret and implement standing orders and protocols.
- Have experience working in a clinical setting and in the administration of injections.
- Use a team-focused approach, with a willingness to help others when needed.
- Provide and receive feedback in a constructive manner.
- Ideally, be bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience, in Nursing from an accredited college or university required. Related education or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
- Licensed to practice as a registered nurse (RN) in the State of Colorado required.
- One (1) year experience in providing health services as a Registered Nurse required.
- Possession of CPR and First Aid certifications by date of hire required.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.
- One year (1) of experience in specific nursing program relevant to the role they will perform preferred.
