What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accounting Technician position at Larimer County?
Within BCS, this position will be part of the Child Support Services team. Child Support Services works with parents and caretakers to make sure all Colorado children get the financial support they need to thrive.
The Senior Accounting Technician performs complex and specialized accounting duties requiring a thorough knowledge of bookkeeping and public accounting procedures in addition to knowledge of Child Support specific accounting and allocation practices. This position acts as a subject matter expert on Colorado Statutes and Regulations pertaining to Child Support and the allocation and distribution of Child Support Payments.
The typical schedule will be Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. This is a hybrid position that allows working from home, and requires at least one day per week in the office.
What you'll be doing:
- Acting as a go-to resource for resolving complex child support accounting issues.
- Reviewing cases for accuracy and advising technicians on tough situations.
- Responding to inquiries and complaints from clients, staff, and partner agencies.
- Preparing reports and compiling program statistics.
- Providing backup coverage to ensure uninterrupted services.
- Allocating payments and maintaining accurate child support ledgers.

- Three (3) years of experience maintaining financial and statistical records in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.

The position will be located at one of the following three locations: 1501 Blue Spruce Drive, Fort Collins, CO 2555 Midpoint Drive, Fort Collins, CO 200 Peridot Avenue, Loveland, CO.
This position is a hybrid position and will require at least one day/week in the office. You will be required to have adequate internet access and space for remote work. Larimer County provides an annual remote work stipend to assist with equipment and office supply needs for remote workspaces.
