A Program Specialist supports individuals with mental illness, intellectual and/or physical disabilities in the field of vocational adjustment services and daily living skills. Individual designs, implements and evaluates the vocational adjustment segment in order to assist individuals in meeting identified outcomes as specified in the Individual Support Plan (ISP), and other program planning documents. The individual conducts assessments of functioning levels, strengths and needs and formulates suggested methods for responding to assessed needs. The employee may train, direct and collaborate with non-professional staff. An important aspect of the work is the on-going review and evaluation of the clients’ needs and progress toward achieving program outcomes both in the vocational setting and in the community.
REQUIREMENTS:
A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Special Education, Psychology, Rehabilitation, Social Work, or other human services field. OR
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Special Education, Psychology, Rehabilitation, Social Work, or other human services field; and one-year experience working directly with persons with disabilities. OR
An Associate’s Degree or completion of a two-year program for an accredited college or university in Special Education, Psychology, Rehabilitation, Social Work, or other human services field; and three years’ experience working directly with persons with disabilities.
