Our hospital values teamwork, patient-centered care, and professional development.Job Summary : As a G.I. RN, you will provide high-quality, patient-focused nursing care in the G.I. department. You will be responsible for assisting physicians in the preparation, execution, and recovery of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. You will also monitor patients, educate them on their conditions, and provide necessary follow-up care. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, a passion for patient care, and experience in the G.I. nursing field.Key Responsibilities :
- Prepare patients for G.I. procedures (e.g., endoscopies, colonoscopies, biopsies).
- Assist physicians and other healthcare professionals during diagnostic and therapeutic G.I. procedures.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition before, during, and after procedures.
- Administer medications and provide sedation as directed by physicians.
- Educate patients and families on pre-procedure instructions, post-procedure care, and lifestyle modifications for managing gastrointestinal conditions.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care.
- Document patient progress, procedural details, and any adverse reactions.
- Assist in the management of patients with chronic gastrointestinal conditions, including but not limited to inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, and GERD.
- Participate in patient discharge planning and provide follow-up support.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment in the G.I. procedure rooms.
- Comply with all hospital policies, safety standards, and regulations.Job Requirements :
- Education :
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
- Licensure / Certification :
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Florida
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required.
- G.I. specialty certifications (such as CGRN) are a plus but not required.
- Experience :
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a G.I. nursing or related clinical setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of gastrointestinal conditions, procedures, and patient care.
- Experience with patient monitoring and sedation administration is preferred.
