Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated First Assist join our surgical team. The First Assist will work closely with surgeons to provide direct support during surgical procedures, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and a smooth surgical workflow. This role requires a thorough understanding of surgical techniques, exceptional technical skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Surgical Assistance: Assist surgeons during operations by performing tasks such as suturing, tissue manipulation, and handling surgical instruments.
- Preparation: Prepare and maintain the sterile field, ensuring all necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment are available and functional.
- Patient Care: Assist with patient positioning and draping, and provide support to ensure patient safety throughout the procedure.
- Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons, surgical teams, and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and effective surgical interventions.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of surgical procedures, including any intraoperative observations and actions taken.
- Infection Control: Adhere to infection control protocols and standards to minimize the risk of contamination.
- Equipment Management: Ensure all surgical equipment is properly sterilized, maintained, and functioning correctly.
- Post-Operative Care: Assist with post-operative patient care, including monitoring recovery and addressing any immediate concerns.
Requirements:
- Education: Certified First Assistant or equivalent certification (e.g., Certified Surgical First Assistant [CSFA], Surgical Assistant [SA]).
- Experience: Previous experience as a First Assist or in a similar role within a surgical setting preferred.
