POSITION SUMMARY:
This position works under the direct supervision of your foreman. The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of multiple pieces of construction equipment. The Equipment Operator is proficient in the use of a diverse range of equipment including, but not limited to, Excavators, Loaders, Dozers, Rollers, Graders, Pavers, Skid Steers, and other pieces of equipment.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Capable of operating multiple pieces of equipment used in the removal of trees and debris.
- Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, and clean, lubricate and refill the equipment, as necessary.
- Maneuver heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that the vehicle position is correct and - any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
- Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance.
- Use various pieces of equipment to perform fine grading and finishing, sloping and banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating, and stockpiling.
- Represent the Company in an ethical and proper manner.
- Perform all duties in an independent manner with minimal direction and supervision by consistently showing ability to recognize and deal with priorities.
- Recognize and perform duties which need to be completed although not directly assigned.
- Work well, and maintain cooperative working relationships, with the managers, employees, vendors, suppliers, and customers
- Operate equipment on public roadways if needed and maintain proper awareness of one’s surroundings.
- Consistently show ability to recognize and deal with multiple priorities; Demonstrate ability to tactfully handle stressful or difficult situations.
- Maintain a well-groomed, professional appearance appropriate for the position and within policy guidelines.
- Be dependable, report to work on time, and provide proper notification of whereabouts when absence from work is unavoidable.
- Attend webinars/seminars/training to update and improve position knowledge for him/herself and the company in relation to the position or tasks required to perform the job successfully.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the equipment.
- Perform all other duties as requested or assigned and as business operations and conditions require.
- Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of construction equipment.
- Other related duties as required.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Forestry Related Heavy Equipment Experience Preferred.

2 to 3 years’ experience operating a diverse range of heavy equipment is required.

Knowledge of heavy equipment operation as well as an understanding of computerized controls and electronics.

A valid driver’s license is required.
