What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plumbing Academy Assistant position at Larry & Sons?
The Plumbing Academy Assistants are undergoing continual evaluation for the Plumbing Academy Apprentice Program. They assist the assigned Service Technician and/or Technical Supervisor with any job-related task in accordance with city, state and federal plumbing codes. This may include everything from outside digging to assisting plumbing technicians on various plumbing tasks.

- Assist in picking up parts, carrying necessary equipment on-site
- Assist in other duties as requested to aid in completion of jobs and development of skills
- Participate in an evaluation period with the intention of applying for the next available spot in the Plumbing Academy Program
- Participate in ride-a-longs for evaluation for the Plumbing Academy Program
- Clear away debris, i.e. in a renovation project
- Measure, cut, thread, bend pipes to required angle
- Observe and comply with all relevant health & safety regulations
- Observe and comply with all associated policies & procedures
- Above average math skills
- Manual dexterity
- Ability to assist in usage of standard plumbing trade tools i.e. plumbing snakes, augers, drills, saws
- Ability to assist in usage of general carpenter hand tools i.e. hammers, measuring tape, levels, and screwdrivers
- Ability to take and follow precise directions from their supervisors
- Ability to demonstrate active listening skills and communicate effectively to facilitate a positive and productive working partnership
- Ability to sit down for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift, transport, adjust heavy objects and equipment 75-100 pounds
- Ability to bend, twist, climb, squat, reach
- Ability to work in confined spaces and/or climb ladders (heights)
- Ability to stand up for extended periods
- Ability to work outdoors year-round in elements/weather
- Exposure to smells associated with Sewer and Water
- Exposure to sounds associated with power tools and other loud noises (construction site)
- May come into contact with sharp, hot/cold supplies or equipment
- High School or Equivalency
- Reliable Transportation
- Two (2) years of plumbing experience preferred in performing tasks associated with water, waste plumbing, and fixtures in a residential application
