We are seeking an experienced Protection and Controls (P&C) Manager with 7-10 years of experience in utility substation design, with an emphasis on renewable energy and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role will oversee the design, engineering, and implementation of protection and control systems for medium and high-voltage substations, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the P&C design, ensuring quality and timely delivery of project milestones.
- Develop and review protection and control schemes for utility-scale substations, integrating renewable energy and BESS assets.
- Oversee the design, specification, and implementation of protective relays, SCADA, communication networks, and control systems.
- Ensure compliance with NERC, IEEE, IEC, NFPA, and utility interconnection standards.
- Conduct fault analysis, relay coordination studies, and settings development for substations and associated transmission systems.
- Collaborate with utilities, developers, EPCs, and regulatory bodies to ensure project requirements are met.
- Support factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and commissioning of substation protection systems.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and training to junior engineers.
- Stay updated on emerging grid modernization, DER integration, and cybersecurity trends in the power industry.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 7-10 years of experience in protection and control engineering for high-voltage substations.
- A background in renewable energy, BESS, and distributed energy resources (DER).
- Proficiency in relay settings, coordination studies, and system protection analysis.
- Experience with SEL, GE, ABB, and Siemens relays, including programming and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with ETAP, ASPEN, CYME, SKM PowerTools, or similar power system analysis software.
- Working knowledge of SCADA, RTUs, DNP3, IEC 61850, and substation automation systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- PE License (Preferred) or the ability to obtain one.
- Willingness to travel for site visits, testing, and commissioning as required.
