Classified Job Title: Teacher III Elementary- Dean of Students

General Job Description: The dean of students is responsible for overseeing administrative, behavioral, and academic progress of students at the elementary school. This involves managing student activities, enforcing disciplinary measures when necessary, and working with other school departments to ensure that all student programs run smoothly. Additionally, this person will have supervisory responsibilities for MTSS, school safety, facilities and shared responsibilities in staff evaluations along with other administrative duties.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree and Colorado teaching license.

Directly Responsible To: Principal

Salary Range: $40,000- $58,000

Supervisory Responsibilities:
As assigned by the building principal

Duties and Responsibilities:
This position will consist of multiple duties within the secondary building.

1) MTSS- Student Behavior Expectations
The Dean of Students will actively participate in the implementation of MTSS at all levels. Universally, this position is responsible for the implementation of the student behavior handbook, which includes building level expectations for behavior for students and staff. Additionally, this position will work directly with RtI teams to address individual student academic and behavioral interventions and needs.
This will include collaborating with ISST teams, which will include individual students and families.

2) School Safety (k-12)
The Dean of Students will actively participate on the district school safety committee. The school safety committee is responsible to develop the school safety plan to meet policy and state statute requirements.
Additionally, this committee will be responsible to work with building level principals to implement the practices of the plan, which include:

• Conducting monthly fire drills and the required documentation
• Conduct SRP (standard response protocol) drills for lockout, lockdown, shelter and reunification
• Conduct annual collaborative emergency drills with local agencies
• Meet state requirements for drills and training per district policy and state statutes

3) Evaluations
The Dean of Students will collaborate with the building level principal to assist with annual evaluations for both classified and certified staff. This will include following the district policy for evaluation processes for classified and certified staff. This person will collaborate quarterly with the principal on evaluation performances.

4) Leadership
The Dean of Student models professional maturity and emotional constancy in stressful situations, bringing out the best in others by seeking solutions and displaying positivity and motivation. They will mentor and coach staff members to encourage growth and results through classroom management.

5) Family and Community Engagement
The Dean of Students will maintain communication and relations with the families of the school, ensuring they are kept involved with and held accountable for their children's academic and behavioral performance. Communicate regularly with families regarding student performance and academic achievement and respond to family concerns promptly and effectively

6) Collaboration
The Dean of Students will build relationships with teachers and other members of the administration team in order to positively impact the school culture. Assist with staff professional development planning and implementation for returning and new teachers.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $59,438.00 per year
