Las Vegas Cat Hospital is a new, privately-owned feline-only, fear free, full service professional veterinary clinic. Our mission is to provide specialty level care to cats through outstanding customer service, excellent client education, and fear free patient handling in a calm, compassionate manner. We are looking to add a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to our team to help us deliver top-notch service to our clients and their pets.

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Veterinary Assistant who is obsessed with cats to join our team. In this role, you play a vital role in delivering high-quality veterinary care to the feline species while working alongside veterinarians, veterinary technicians and other team members. Located in a community-focused environment, this role involves performing various tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the clinic, including assisting in animal exams, maintaining cleanliness, handling pets, and managing client communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Animal Care:
  • Assist in handling and restraining animals for exams, treatments, and procedures.
  • Observe animals for signs of illness, injury, or distress and report to the veterinarian.
  • Administer medications or treatments under the direction of the veterinarian or technician.
  • Prepare animals for surgery and assist during procedures.
  • Assist in the care of hospitalized animals, ensuring their comfort and needs are met.
  • Clinic Support:
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels, treatment areas, and examination rooms.
  • Sterilize instruments and ensure proper sanitation protocols are followed.
  • Assist with laboratory tests and sample collection (blood, urine, etc.).
  • Prepare and stock medical supplies, equipment, and medications.
  • Client Interaction:
  • Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their animals' health and wellness.
  • Schedule appointments and provide information on procedures and services.
  • Offer support and guidance to pet owners on proper care and preventative health measures.
  • Administrative Support:
  • Update and maintain animal records and ensure accurate documentation of treatments and procedures.
  • Handle phone calls, emails, and client inquiries.
  • Process payments and assist in the completion of required forms or paperwork.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (additional veterinary assistant training or certification preferred).
  • Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary or animal care setting is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of animal behavior, common illnesses, and basic veterinary procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a team and interact with clients.
  • Physical ability to lift and move animals, clean clinic areas, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to handle and restrain cats safely with compassion and respect.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm demeanor.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour

  • 5x8
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • No weekends
