Position Overview
The primary responsibility of the Senior Accountant - Tax is to assist the Corporate Tax team with all tax compliance, tax accounting, and tax controversy functions.
All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Las Vegas Sands Corp.'s policies, practices, and procedures. All Las Vegas Sands Corp. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the execution of internal operational improvement opportunities and strategies.
- Assist with federal income tax and state income tax returns (including but not limited to consolidated returns, separate corporate returns, estimated tax payments, and employee benefit plan returns).
- Assist with sections of the quarterly and annual tax provision and accounting for uncertainty in income tax analysis.
- Review and prepare work papers and electronic files that support related tax accounting and tax compliance outputs.
- Assist tax directors in gathering and organizing information to respond to audit document requests and proposed adjustments.
- Work to develop an understanding of laws and regulations that carry implications for tax reporting.
- Assist with technical tax research to support tax positions.
- Communicate with our global counterparts and other departments in our organization to exchange necessary data needed for preparation of tax filings.
- Communicate regular updates to keep tax directors informed on status of reporting work, internal improvement involvement, and workload.
- Provide input into and execute strategic plan for Corporate Tax consistent with the department's strategic vision.
- Perform work with adherence to the standards, protocols, and policies of Corporate Tax.
- Communicate career goals and development interests to identify training opportunities.
- Perform job duties in a safe manner.
- Attend work as scheduled on a consistent and regular basis.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 21 years of age.
- Proof of authorization to work in the United States
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required. Master's degree in Tax or JD with LLM in Taxation preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or working toward certification preferred.
- 2-5 years accounting and/or tax experience in a corporate environment or Big Four or major/medium sized accounting firm.
- The individual must be proficient at excel and have experience performing tax research.
- The individual must have experience with tax return preparation software and the processes of completing a tax return. OneSource tax software experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and interact appropriately with management, other Team Members and outside contacts of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
- Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
