What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at LAS VEGAS SURGICAL ASSOCIATES?
· Escort Patient to exam room
· Prepares exam rooms for visit and stocks with adequate medical supplies
· Give instructions to patients as directed by Physician, Physician Assistant
· Performing vital signs
· Obtaining medical histories
· Document all patient information in the medical chart
· Maintain patient files, records and other information.
· Filing and preparing correspondence for patients or member of the healthcare team
· Assisting the physician during examinations and with post-Op and vein procedures
· Task Manage (EHR, email, verbal )
· Procedures under sterile technique
· Gives instruction and explaining medical procedures to patients
· Calling in prescriptions to pharmacies
· Delivering wound care, cleaning and dressing wounds appropriately
· Removing staples, sutures, and drains
· Wound Care
· Assisting with minor procedures
· Vein procedure pre, assisting and post vein care.
· Sterilizing medical instruments
· Maintaining strict confidentiality in agreement with HIPAA
· Prepare patient’s chart in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system for office visit:
· Obtain medical records, radiology reports, labs, all perinate medical records.
· Prep / Post office visit: lab orders, and imaging as requested by physician
· Referring patients to outside providers as requested by physician
· Answering multi-line phone system and resolving patient concerns
· Multi-tasking and exhibiting clear communication with patients and staff
· Screen Telephone calls for referrals to PA or Physician
· Triage and process messaged from patients, front office staff, referring physician and pharmacies to physician
· Maintaining efficiency in fast-paced surgery clinic
· Assess and keep track of medical supply inventory
· Follow universal precautions, OSHA, standards and HIPPA Regulations
· Attend required meetings and participate committees, medical protocols as requested
· Performs other assigned duties as directed.
· Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
· Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
· Maintain CPR Certification
· Remote office MA support, patient check in, copays
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a medical assistant training program
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficiency in medication administration and basic clinical procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to provide excellent patient care.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting is preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant is a plus.
- Spanish Speaking a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
