This is an opportunity to join a growing and well-respected practice! Las Vegas Urology is currently seeking a patient-focused, detail-oriented Surgery Scheduler to join its team. Our staff works together in taking care of our patient's needs, and has been doing so, in the Las Vegas Valley, for decades.
General summary of duties : Obtains authorizations and schedules patient surgeries.
Typical working conditions : Work is performed in an office environment. Involves contact with patients and the public. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and surgeries.
Examples of duties : (This list may not include all the duties assigned)
- Scheduling patients for surgeries after being seen by the doctor.
- Fills out all FMLA forms within 72 hours and collects the FMLA fee at the time of pick up.
- Schedule the follow up appointment after surgery.
- Collecting copays / deductibles / OOP from patients prior to procedure.
- Call to get availability with the location (Ex : Hospital, surgery center).
- Schedule with everyone needed for the surgery. (Ex : anesthesiologist).
- Obtaining authorizations.
- Confirming with the patients when and where the surgery will be performed.
- Make sure the patient registers with the hospital and gets any test needed before surgery.
- Enter patient information into EHR from physician hospital consult visits to be billed.
- Enter patient information into EHR from hospital face sheets to be billed.
- Keep up with tasks assigned.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality; Adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
- Performs related work as required.
Performance requirements : Knowledge of phone and communication procedures. Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction. Ability to speak clearly and concisely with a pleasant telephone voice. Ability to handle stressful situations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
Education : High School Diploma or GED.
Experience : 3 years' medical surgery scheduling experience, in a clinic setting. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Typical physical demands : Work requires physical hand dexterity and full range of motion for operation of phones. Requires sitting for long periods of time. Requires ability to hear within normal range. Requires ability to work under stressful situations with high concentration and energy level.
