All persons hired into Limited Term (LT) positions will be required to sign a term of employment letter specifying conditions of employment.

Hours of Work : 4 / 10’s, 7 am-6pm, Mon-Thurs

The ideal candidate will have experience and proficiency in graphic design, including producing artwork and collateral for organizations;

writing and developing publications and communications campaigns for organizations; Experienced in Adobe Creative Suite software, including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.

Have an understanding of database management and journalism best practices, including AP Style.

INTRODUCTION : Human Resources will screen applications and supplemental questionnaires. Candidates possessing the strongest skills and experience for this position will be forwarded to the hiring department for further evaluation and to determine who will be invited to the formal interview process.

The candidate hired will be required to pass a drug screening, background check and may be required to pass a job-related physical evaluation.

GENERAL PURPOSE

  • Under general supervision, performs a variety of technical pre- and post-production duties to support the creation and production of in-studio, field and live videos for the District, Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) and Springs Preserve;
  • sets up and operates professional, broadcast-quality single- and multiple-camera, lighting and audio equipment; creates titles and graphics;

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of :

  • Principles, practices and equipment used in photo, audio and video production; photo, audio and video production techniques including lighting, sound and basic video direction;
  • technical operations of professional and broadcast-level television and audio production equipment; design and preparation of computer-generated graphics and digital video effects;
  • photo and videotape editing techniques including single and multi-source recording; digital video standards and best practices;
  • closed and embedded captioning formats and standards; various content hosting and web streaming methods and other digital platforms;
  • media archival equipment and systems; uses and operations of computer hardware and software used for photo, audio and video production and editing;
  • Federal Communications Commission rules and regulations; project management methods and practices applicable to areas of assigned responsibility;
  • principles, practices and techniques for principles and practices of sound business communication; correct English usage, including spelling, grammar and punctuation;

safety rules and practices and safety equipment applicable to the work.

Ability to :

  • Perform a full range of pre- and post-production activities for production assignments; operate a wide variety of broadcast and professional production equipment and editing software;
  • work with all levels of management and staff in carrying out photo, audio, video and live production assignments;communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing;
  • interpret information and situations and make recommendations in accordance with applicable policies, regulations and guidelines;

exercise sound judgment within established guidelines; maintain accurate files and records represent the District and maintain effective relationships with those encountered in the course of the work, including the media and the public.

Training and Experience :

  • A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in communications, broadcast journalism, film or television production or a closely related field;
  • and two years of increasingly responsible professional experience in photography, audio, television or video production and editing;

or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements :

A valid Nevada driver's license and ability to maintain insurability under the District's Vehicle Insurance Policy may be required for some assignments.

lift and operate equipment up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.

Specific vision abilities required for the job include close vision, distance and peripheral vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Specific hearing abilities required for the job include hearing through computer audio and headsets and the ability to distinguish wanted and unwanted sounds.

Mental Demands

  • While performing the duties of this class, an employee is regularly required to use written and oral communication skills;
  • read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve complex problems; use math and mathematical reasoning;
  • perform highly detailed work under changing, intensive deadlines on multiple, concurrent tasks; work with constant interruptions;

and interact with District officials, managers, staff, business and community organizations, customers, the media and the public.
