Job Summary
This position oversees inmate/detainee worker programs, trains and orientates workers in their duties, including proper sanitation and hand washing procedures. The individual must be able to supervise inmates/detainees to ensure they are completing tasks in an organized and timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creates and implements orientation forms for inmate/detainee workers
- Trains and orientates workers in their required duties, including proper sanitation and hand washing procedures
- Assigns daily kitchen tasks to inmates/detainees and supervises them to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner
- Prepares, assists, or instructs inmate/detainee labor in the preparation of food items according to departmental work production standards and standardized recipes
- Follows assigned facility housekeeping and safety practices in all preparation, oversight, and serving of correctional facility meals
Requirements:

- Ability to function well in a high-paced and stressful environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED
- Wage-earning experience in correctional, commercial, or institutional food preparation service management or eighteen months of correctional custody or law enforcement experience
- Correctional or institutional food service experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Continuous sitting per shift
- Long periods of continuous walking and standing per shift
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
- Frequent grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, and twisting
