The AP/AR Supervisor oversees the general accounting functions related to Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and Cash/Treasury activities. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in transactional accounting while leading a team responsible for financial processes.
AP/AR Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Supervise AR, AP, and Cash/Treasury operations in compliance with GAAP and SOX regulations
- Ensure timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations
- Support external audits by preparing financial statements and required documentation
- Review budget reports and assist departments with annual budget preparation
- Coordinate the preparation and submission of the corporate tax return
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance
- Generate and analyze financial reports to provide key insights to leadership
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Directly supervises 3-5 team members within the accounting shared services function
- Provides mentorship, training, and performance feedback to the team
- Establishes best practices for process efficiency and continuous improvement
AP/AR Supervisor Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- 5 years of experience in AR/AP, cash reconciliations, and financial reporting, with prior supervisory experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP, SOX compliance, and financial controls
- Excellent analytical skills to identify and resolve financial discrepancies
- Customer service mindset with the ability to resolve issues efficiently
- Proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools, with experience tracking KPIs
- Strong organizational skills, able to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Flexible and adaptable to shifting priorities
- Ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and develop effective solutions.
- Clearly convey financial insights and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and cash management.
- Strong skills in arithmetic, statistics, and financial calculations.
- Ability to identify inefficiencies and implement best practices to optimize workflow.
- High level of accuracy and ability to ensure compliance in all accounting functions.
- General office environment with periodic exposure to manufacturing/production areas.
- Prolonged periods of sitting, using a computer, and handling financial data.
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
- Moderate noise levels, with occasional exposure to louder production areas.
