Tax Senior Manager

LaSalle Network has partnered with a leading real estate investment firm based in Chicago, specializing in multifamily and hospitality properties. Our client is seeking an experienced Tax Senior Manager to join their growing team and lead tax strategy and compliance efforts. This role will be in their office 5 days a week and is budgeted flexibly up to $220,000 with additional bonus eligibility.

Our client is looking for a skilled Tax Senior Manager with a strong background in REIT taxation or public accounting, preferably with a focus on real estate. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing our client's tax function, ensuring compliance and optimizing tax strategy.

Tax Senior Manager Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of the firm's tax function, including planning, compliance and reporting
• Manage federal, state and local tax compliance for the firm and its investment entities
• Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the firm's tax position
• Provide tax guidance on complex real estate transactions and investment structures
• Collaborate with external advisors and auditors on tax matters
• Stay current with tax laws and regulations, particularly those affecting REITs and real estate investments
• Prepare and review tax provisions for financial statements
• Manage and mentor junior tax team members
• Assist in due diligence processes for potential acquisitions and dispositions
• Communicate tax matters to senior management and investors

Tax Senior Manager Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; Master's in Taxation preferred
• CPA license required
• 8 years of progressive tax experience, with a focus on real estate and/or REITs
• Strong knowledge of federal, state and local tax laws affecting real estate investments
• Experience with either REIT taxation and compliance, or public accounting background with a focus on real estate clients
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong leadership and team management abilities
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and tax preparation software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with partnership taxation and complex real estate structures preferred

• Familiarity with international tax issues related to real estate investments preferred
• Knowledge of tax technology and process improvement methodologies preferred
