THIS WHO YOU MIGHT BECOME: The Campus Minister is a full-time, 40-hour a week, non-exempt, and hourly position who provides activities which meet the spiritual, religious, and wellbeing needs of LaSalle youth, by assuring each youth has access to activities which tend to the youth’s spiritual wellbeing and development as a positive, contributing member of society. This person works directly with youth and staff to integrate service learning and recreational activities with spiritual formation and animation of the Lasallian charism across campus. The Campus Minister works to engage youth in positive youth development activities, including service-learning opportunities and recreational activities which promote youth wellbeing, an appreciation for nature and the world around us. The Minister also serves as the school’s Lasallian Animator. As such, they are the agency representative to the DENA Ministry Council, works to stay well connected to the values and rich history of service to others essential to Lasallian education, and leads in the development of Lasallian formation opportunities for staff and youth alike.

THIS IS WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Facilitate campus wide ecumenical and religious holiday observations and celebrations.
  • Assesses each resident's interest in religious, spiritual, and service activities and incorporate components of that in his overall activities and experiences while here, consistent with and in support of his treatment plan.
  • Coordinate and supervise service-learning experiences for all assigned youth.
  • Work with the Directors Leadership Team to ensure ongoing activities for youth incorporate spiritual and physical wellbeing.
  • Work with the local community to ensure our youth have service opportunities which contribute to the wellbeing of others.
  • Support youth engagement in recreation activities which promote spiritual and physical wellbeing.
  • Work with the Christian Brothers, Catholic Women’s Service League, and agency leadership to see that essential elements of Lasallian traditions are observed throughout the agency.
  • Serve as the liaison to other regional Lasallian ministries and coordinate opportunities for social learning and growth amongst peer student groups.
  • Partner with agency leadership and formed staff to organize and support a system of activities, events, and opportunities to share, build and sustain knowledge of the LaSalle story and traditions.
  • Coordinate the Rotary Award nominating process and LaSalle's full participation; coordinate the recognition for positive engagement in service to others by youth and maintain a dimension for both as part of our Founder's Week celebrations.
  • Provide leadership to Founder’s week planning and execution.
  • Help youth develop a positive perspective of physical wellbeing, and meaningful engagement in positive health maintenance activities.
  • Help staff and agency leadership to engage actively in external formation experiences.
  • Maintain accurate records, as assigned.
  • Adhere to the parental notification guidelines and confidentiality policies.
  • Ensures activities support COA Accreditation requirements, OCFS, ORR, SED and DOH regulations, and Lasallian Sponsorship guidelines.

THI IS WHAT YOU NEED:

  • BA/BS degree, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience with coordinating service, spiritual, and religious activities.
  • Valid NYS Driver's License
  • TCI Certification, first aid/CPR, Trauma Informed Care/ACEs, other as assigned
  • Completion of all training and background checks required by ORR
  • Completion of an ongoing participation in agency/District formation activities (e.g., JJI, Buttimer, NGLL, etc.)
  • Demonstrated commitment to the Lasallian Mission, philosophy and trauma-informed care.
  • Culturally competent and committed to ethical practices.

THIS IS WHO YOU ARE:

  • Strong communication, teaching, and behavioral management skills.
  • Able to motivate youth engagement on positive youth development endeavors.
  • Highly organized, able to multi-task, and good recordkeeping skills.
  • Able to work in a treatment-based environment and to support trauma informed integrated care.
  • Strong understanding of spiritual and religious development.

THIS IS WHAT WE OFFER:

  • Start at 10 days off for vacation, 13 paid holidays a year, 3 personal days, 12 sick days per year and other leave time available dependent on the circumstances.
