About Us
LASARRUS Clinic and Research Center is a fast-growing organization focused on innovative healthcare solutions for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). We are currently conducting an NIH-funded clinical study to validate our WearME-Pro system—a wearable device designed to monitor key respiratory and activity biomarkers in COPD patients.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Clinical Research Specialist (Study Team Member) for a 2–5-month contract (with potential for extension) to support this crucial phase of our research. In this role, you will play a central part in coordinating participant visits, collecting data with reference devices (spirometer, capnograph, ECG, etc.), ensuring protocol compliance, and helping advance our device toward eventual FDA submission.
Key Responsibilities
Participant Coordination & Screening
- Identify, recruit, and screen potential COPD study participants in compliance with IRB and regulatory guidelines.
- Obtain informed consent and maintain accurate, organized study documentation.
Device Application & Data Collection
- Properly apply the WearME device (chest harness and sensors) and reference devices (spirometry, capnography, ECG, etc.).
- Perform and/or supervise spirometry, 6MWT, TUG, SPPB, and ROM evaluations, ensuring participant safety and comfort.
Study Documentation & Compliance
- Record participant data accurately in HIPAA-compliant databases or case report forms.
- Ensure adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), IRB protocols, and sponsor requirements.
Participant Safety & Risk Mitigation
- Monitor participants for any adverse events; promptly report and document any issues as per study protocol.
- Practice and uphold all safety procedures, including proper device cleaning and maintenance.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with study investigators, clinical staff, and other sites (Johns Hopkins, TidalHealth) to coordinate research activities.
- Provide regular progress updates, maintain open communication with the Sponsor and Coordinating Center, and assist in any required training sessions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a health-related field (Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Clinical Research, or related discipline).
- Experience performing or supervising spirometry testing or related pulmonary function assessments strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with IRB processes, GCP, HIPAA compliance, and clinical research protocols.
- Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented approach, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for participant interaction and cross-team collaboration.
- CPR/BLS certification (preferred).
Contract Terms
- Duration: 2–5 months (possibility of extension based on study progress).
- Hourly Rate: $40–$60 (DOE, commensurate with experience and qualifications).
- Location: Baltimore, MD area (on-site presence is required for participant visits).
