Job Summary:
Lasell University is seeking an Assistant Director of Financial Aid to join our growing team. This full-time, hybrid role is ideal for individuals passionate about student services and financial aid administration. The Assistant Director will help guide students and families through the financial aid process while collaborating with various university departments. Key Responsibilities:
Student and Family Assistance:
- Guide students and families through the financial aid application process, ensuring clarity in eligibility, needs analysis, and award determination, in compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
- Counsel on loan borrowing, financial literacy, and debt management.
- Provide personalized, confidential, and empathetic support to students and families, addressing their questions thoroughly and accurately.
- Represent the Office of Financial Aid at campus events such as Open Houses and orientations.
Office Management:
- Package and modify financial aid for undergraduate and graduate students according to university policies and federal guidelines.
- Develop and implement outreach strategies with other campus departments, including creating and updating financial aid materials such as brochures, website content, and workshops.
- Assist in supervising student employees within the Financial Aid office.
- Collaborate with other departments to support student success, retention, and degree completion.
Independent Decision-Making:
- Manage tasks such as verification, award adjustments, changes in circumstances, and professional judgment applications.
- Handle multiple projects efficiently, ensuring deadlines are met with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies through diligent data collection and process management.
State Grant Roster Management and Outside Scholarships:
- Process and certify all state grant awards, including eligibility review, awarding, and reconciliation of state funds.
- Manage all state grant certification, error resolution, and disbursement processes.
- Oversee institutional aid and outside scholarship processing for students.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Experience in financial aid administration or student services preferred.
- Knowledge of financial aid regulations, federal and state aid programs, and experience with PowerFAIDS or similar systems.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and colleagues.
- High attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.
