Summary
The Purchasing Clerk is responsible for assisting in the procurement process for all materials, products, and services required for manufacturing projects. The role involves vendor selection, negotiation of contracts, ensuring quality and cost control, and managing supplier relationships to support the industry needs. This position works closely with the Purchasing Manager to ensure efficient operations within budgetary constraints.
Shift
- Monday - Friday from 7:00am to 4:00pm with an hour lunch
Responsibilities
- Negotiate contract with suppliers, ensuring favorable pricing, quality standards, and timely delivery that align with metal fabrication jobs.
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors and evaluate vendor performance regularly.
- Coordinate with Plant Managers to forecast material needs and ensure inventory availability.
- Identify new vendors and manage long- term agreements to optimize cost savings
- Generate work orders and ensure accuracy in material specifications, pricing, and delivery schedules.
- Analyze bids and proposals from suppliers and subcontractors and provide recommendations.
- Resolve supply chain and delivery issues, manage supplier warranties, and handle returns.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree is a plus but not necessary.
- Experience with supply chain purchasing and logistics is a plus but not necessary.
Salary : $18 - $21
