SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Directs counseling activities in accord with directions from the Clinical Director or designee.
- Coordinates alcohol and drug abuse treatment services with the Clinical Director or designee.
- Completes duties in a professional and timely manner.
- Reports all alleged incidents of abuse or neglect to DSHS as set forth by §448.
- Ensures that all records are accurate and timely.
- Provides information and referral services.
- Ensures that all relevant information is provided to the client, the parents or managing conservator of the client on a regular basis and at least weekly.
- Coordinates with the clinical director to insure consistency of treatment.
- Conducts assessments.
- Be responsible for the development of client treatment plans.
- Conducts discharge summaries and discharge plans.
- Facilitates groups and lectures for clients.
- Responsible for client case management issues as they may relate to delivery of substance abuse treatment.
- Is responsible for general documentation of client records on caseload.
- Attends staff meetings as scheduled and as needed.
- Is a contributing member of the treatment team.
- Maintains client confidentiality.
- Protects client's rights.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be licensed by the State of Texas as a Qualified Credentialed Counselor (LCDC, LPC, LCSW, LMSW, CI) and be in good standing. If in recovery, must have two years of sobriety/recovery and be actively working a recovery program.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Education commensurate with licensure, prefer master degree. At least one year experience working in substance abuse treatment facility required. Work experience in 12-step immersion program preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, long correspondence, and memos. Ability to write complex correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Must be able to navigate a computer and use and windows-based operating system. Must be able to navigate the agency electronic medical record.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete and abstract variables in all situations.
