Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. This role is designed for individuals with lived experience in recovery who can provide support, guidance, and encouragement to others facing similar challenges. The Certified Peer Specialist will utilize their personal experiences to foster hope and resilience in clients, helping them navigate their recovery journey while promoting wellness and self-advocacy.
Duties
- Provide individual and group support to help clients overcome dependencies and adjust to life changes.
- Use personal experience to reinforce recovery, abstinence, treatment participation, and healthy behaviors.
- Offer referrals to community resources and maintain an updated list of educational and support programs.
- Complete intake paperwork and conduct monthly client handbook reviews.
- Plan, schedule, and facilitate monthly client activities.
- Manage weekly menus, including inventory, ordering, and grocery pickup.
- Oversee donations and distribution as needed.
- Transport clients and maintain accurate transportation records.
- Act as a liaison between administration, direct care, and the clinical team.
- Advocate for clients in crisis situations.
- Ensure compliance with state regulations and facility policies.
- Document clinical notes in the EMR system.
- Participate in training to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Assist at the front desk, including answering calls.
- Provide culturally competent support for program staff.
- Support the Leadership Team with special projects.
Requirements
- Certification as a Peer Specialist is required.
- Demonstrated experience in mental health counseling or addiction counseling is preferred.
- Strong understanding of behavioral health systems and crisis management techniques.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
- Experience in mentoring or providing support within a peer context is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of motivational interviewing principles is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- A genuine passion for helping others achieve their recovery goals.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $22.05 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
