The Cost Accounting Analyst is responsible for performing professional cost accounting functions, applying well-established cost accounting principles, standards, and practices. This role involves determining product costs, projecting costs for new processes or construction, and comparing actual costs to budgeted figures. The position requires a thorough understanding of cost accounting methods and the ability to adapt and apply these methods creatively when procedures are not strictly defined. A strong understanding of overall company operations is necessary for the successful execution of responsibilities.
Key duties may include:
- Cost Analysis & Reporting: Determining and analyzing product costs, research and development costs, and cost projections for new processes, tooling, and construction.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare, analyze, and report on financial performance, including cost trends & variances, to support strategic decision-making, cost optimization, and compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Management Reporting: Preparing reports for management that are critical for pricing decisions, cost-saving initiatives, and other financial analysis.
- System Optimization: Analyzing and improving cost reporting systems, maintaining cost data records, and ensuring the accuracy of accounting records for cost reporting.
- Process Improvement: Evaluating cost savings from design changes, raw material adjustments, or changes in manufacturing methods, and documenting those savings.
- Leadership: Opportunities to lead cross-functional project teams and collaborate with shop floor personnel to drive process improvements, cost-saving initiatives, and operational efficiency, fostering alignment across departments.

PREFERRED EDUCATION: Four (4) year college degree with a major in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting roles, with a focus on cost accounting.
- Demonstrated career growth, including increasing responsibility in cost accounting, financial analysis, or related accounting functions.
- Experience with cost accounting methodologies, cost reporting systems, and financial analysis.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing or product-based environments is preferred.
