Role Description:
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Landscape Architect. The Landscape Architect will be responsible for landscape planning, landscaping, and creating planting plans, as well as conducting landscape design and architecture. The role involves collaborating with clients and community stakeholders to develop projects that align with social, economic, and environmental goals. This position is located in Chicago, IL, with some work-from-home flexibility.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, design and permitting of landscape architecture, streetscape design, and placemaking projects.
- Review and develop landscape plans to confirm adherence to CDOT standards and specifications.
- Developing knowledge of CDOT Standards & Specifications.
- Write and review draft reports, including feasibility studies, proposals and technical specifications.
- Plan, schedule and develop task and project budgets.
- Prepare progress reports and draft change orders.
- Perform and manage multiple projects and tasks within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines; minimize write-offs by keeping projects on budget.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program.
- Professional Landscape Architect (PLA).
- Minimum 5 years of related professional experience, with familiarity with CDOT programs and processes preferred.
- Knowledge of Midwest region’s plant identification.
- LEED AP or similar sustainable accreditation preferred but not required.
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Capability to self-motivate and work productively without supervision required.
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and organizational skills required.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit all levels of personnel and management.
