Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on and motivated Mechanical Engineering student for a co-op position in our manufacturing engineering team. This role will focus on designing a piece of equipment for use in a manufacturing environment, using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and mechanical design principles.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and collaboration in a real-world engineering setting. Candidates with SAE (Formula or Baja) team experience or prior experience in a machine shop are strongly encouraged to apply.

Some of What You Will Do:
- Use AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor to design, model, and document mechanical components and assemblies.
- Apply GD&T principles to ensure accurate manufacturing and assembly.
- Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and technicians to refine designs and ensure feasibility.
- Conduct basic stress analysis and tolerance stack-ups.
- Assist in prototype fabrication, testing, and validation.
- Work in a machine shop environment to understand manufacturability and design for manufacturing (DFM) principles.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to engineering problem-solving.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field).
- Completed coursework in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Mechanical Design, and Manufacturing Processes.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor (coursework or personal projects).
- Hands-on experience in a machine shop (mill, lathe, welding, etc.) is highly desirable.
- Participation in SAE Baja, Formula, or other engineering design teams is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Basic knowledge of material selection and mechanical properties.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, and fabrication.
- Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) or basic stress analysis is a plus.
- Strong communication skills for working with cross-functional teams.
