About the Role
The Research Services Manager – Content Procurement is an integral part of Latham’s Technology & Information Services team. This role will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal, business, and industry information research to attorneys and staff, developing research resource collections, monitoring current developments, and providing training on research resources and strategy, as well as supervising and developing staff, providing regular feedback and generating formal performance evaluations as required, and making recommendations in selecting, coaching, and counseling department employees with department leadership and the Human Capital & Talent team. This role will be located in our Washington, D.C. office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Other key responsibilities include:
- Managing the day-to-day operation of the department’s content procurement process, including purchasing new electronic and print content, renewing existing contracts, and liaising with external vendors to ensure services meet expectations and comply with firm policies
- Managing electronic and print contract compliance; monitoring usage, setting up business review meetings, and responding to other contractual obligations and licensing questions
- Liaising with the Firm’s internal Contract Review, Privacy, Security, and Global Procurement teams to review and approve contract terms and conditions and pricing
- Supervising and authorizing invoice payments, reviewing, and correcting vendor accounts; assisting with the annual budget and reviewing monthly variance reports
- Liaising with Research Services Managers, attorneys, and other business service teams to purchase new and review existing research content, and assisting with promoting awareness of electronic and print resources
- Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Possess superior negotiation and contract management skills
- Display superior knowledge of legal and non-legal electronic and print resources
- Demonstrate superior communication skills, with the ability to work as a team player and interact with diplomacy and tact with people at all organizational levels of the firm
And have:
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably a master’s degree or J.D.
- A minimum of six (6) years of relevant professional experience
- A minimum of seven (7) years of cumulative experience
