LAMB offers a unique model that provides bilingual Montessori public education to diverse, urban families in the Nation’s Capital. LAMB serves children in PK3 through 5th grade. Since children must begin attending school at three or four years old, LAMB is a community that embraces our active parent community, maintains a staff that is committed to children, and promotes peace and equality for all.

Job Overview
The Assistant Principal works collaboratively with the Principal and Academic Team to execute leadership responsibilities. Specific duties are determined through partnership with the Principal.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
- Fluent in English and Spanish.
- MACTE-accredited Montessori credential (two levels preferred; AMS/AMI credentials preferred).
- Minimum six years of successful teaching experience, preferably in Montessori settings, with a willingness to train and coach others.
- Montessori administrator training completion (certificate preferred).
- Strong background in diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Apps
Responsibilities
School Mission & Culture
- Embody and promote LAMB’s mission and values.
- Stay informed on Montessori, bilingual education, and charter school best practices.
- Represent LAMB at local and national educational events.
- Translate the school’s educational philosophy into actionable plans that benefit students and staff.
Academic Leadership
- Ensure alignment and fidelity of scope and sequence, pacing guides, and language allocation.
- Support curriculum development and instructional improvements with the Academic Team.
- Ensure academic programs meet grade-level standards.
- Foster a professional community centered on data-driven reflection and continual growth.
- Collaborate with the SST team to support teacher training and instruction.
Student Discipline & Support
- Ensure teachers use Positive Discipline and Montessori-aligned behavioral strategies.
- Implement and uphold consistent, fair behavior management policies.
- Support teachers with behavioral intervention strategies in Montessori environments.
- Handle student crises with timely follow-up for students, parents, and staff.
Leadership & Coordination
- Foster a shared decision-making model within the leadership team.

Supervise and coordinate:
- Class lists, schedules, special events, field trips, and parent conferences.
- Staff development plans and professional growth opportunities.
- Conduct staff evaluations and create individualized development plans.
- Develop and implement school improvement initiatives.
Staff Development & Human Resources
- Evaluate and support assigned staff members.
- Assist in professional development, staffing plans, and scheduling in collaboration with the Principal and Academic Team.
