Salary Range: $98,500.00 - $105,000.00 per year
Position Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor works in partnership with the Maintenance Manager and other cross-functional leaders to ensure the effective maintenance of equipment and buildings. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for planning and organizing maintenance activities including routine inspections, repairs, and upgrades, to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency. In addition, the Maintenance Supervisor leads and directs the maintenance team, while providing support to ensure tasks are completed in compliance with food safety, human safety, and company policies.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical degree in Mechanical or Electrical Technology and/or equivalent experience in a related field, preferred.
- 2-3 years’ experience in Maintenance Supervision, preferred.
- Experience in food manufacturing or related industry, preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, electronic/electrical equipment repair, and/or industrial manufacturing equipment installation, preferred.
Desired Qualifications
- OSHA Certification, a plus.
- Ability to develop SOPs and training programs.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair major and minor pieces of equipment using problem-solving techniques.
- Strong problem-solving skills, and well developed observational and analytical skills.
- Strong supervisory, administrative, and employee relations skills.
- Highly organized and great attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Ensures “Safety First” is always practiced and observes and adheres to all job safety rules.
- Ensures the safety of all employees operating equipment through proper training on procedures, enforcement of safety rules, enforcement of proper documentation, and overall departmental safety.
- Ensures compliance to GMP's, EHS, SOP's, FDA, USDA and OSHA rules and regulations.
- Plans, assigns, supervises, and directs maintenance technicians to meet required production schedules, quality, costs, and schedule.
- Improves processing methods to reduce cost and avoid loss of production because of equipment malfunction or downtime.
- Arranges and coordinates annual fire safety inspections with local fire departments. Follows up on any deficiencies or recommendations.
- Arranges and coordinates internal safety inspections for equipment and buildings. Follows up on deficiencies and recommendations.
- Ensures major equipment and furnishings are maintained in operable condition and/or arranges necessary replacement.
- Develops, implements, and reviews equipment records (including maintenance logs).
- Coordinates timely equipment repairs.
- Secures major equipment bids and makes recommendations for purchases when replacement or new equipment is required.
- Develops preventative maintenance procedures that are cost-effective and increase the operational life of the equipment.
- Coordinates corrective and preventive maintenance, in accordance with company operating procedures, practices, and financial considerations.
- Supervises and trains workers in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, utility systems and machinery/equipment repairs.
- Analyzes production downtime reports, determines opportunities, and initiates a plan of action to increase efficiencies.
- Coordinates equipment setups, repairs, and installation to meet customer requirements.
- Performs regular and preventive maintenance on equipment to eliminate unscheduled downtime.
- Ensures work areas are cleaned and organized during assigned shifts.
- Manages manpower to ensure adherence to schedule and deadline expectations.
- Takes corrective action as required by initiated work orders.
- Promotes and monitors established safety programs and ensures safe operating procedures are followed.
- Maintains training compliance with machine guarding, lock-out tag-out, and other safety programs.
- Coaches, mentors, and trains all maintenance technicians.
- Interacts with all customers and management to achieve business and departmental objectives.
- Arranges personnel training to comply with Food Safety and Quality standards.
- May operate forklift equipment during relief periods.
- May attend training programs relevant to the duties and responsibilities of this position.
- Participates in the development of policies and procedures related to maintenance and safety.
- Must be punctual and on time for work when scheduled.
- Must be able and willing to work night and weekends when needed.
- All other assignments, responsibilities, and projects as assigned by management.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods of time with extensive walking and working in refrigerated coolers (34F ).
- Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, twist, sit, climb stairs, and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
- Repetitive lifting, push, pulling up to 50 pounds.
- Normal vision, hearing sensitivity and manual dexterity is necessary.
- Must be able to utilize P.I.T. equipment, such as forklift or other lifting devices, to be able to work at heights.
- Ability to climb ladders.
- Ability to crawl under and climb onto machinery and equipment.
