Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Cable Technician with fiber optics experience to install, maintain, and troubleshoot fiber optic and structured cabling systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with fiber optic splicing, terminations, testing, and troubleshooting in commercial, residential, or industrial environments. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure high-quality network installations. This is a contract for 3-4 weeks, active Secret clearance or higher required.
\n- Fiber Optic Installation & Maintenance: Install, terminate, and splice fiber optic cables in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Structured Cabling: Run, terminate, and test copper and fiber optic cabling for data, voice, and video applications.
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Use OTDRs, power meters, and light sources to test fiber optic networks and troubleshoot signal loss or connectivity issues.
- Splicing & Terminations: Perform fusion and mechanical splicing, as well as connector termination for fiber optic cables.
- Equipment Setup: Install and configure networking equipment, racks, patch panels, and enclosures.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of fiber routes, splicing diagrams, and test results.
- Compliance & Safety: Follow industry standards and safety protocols (OSHA, NEC, ANSI/TIA/EIA) to ensure quality and safe installations.
- Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members to ensure project success and customer satisfaction.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose and resolve fiber optic network issues efficiently to minimize downtime.
