Compensation: $20-25/hr
The ITS Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and traffic signal equipment. This position plays a key role in ensuring the proper functioning of traffic signals and related systems to enhance traffic flow and public safety. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with traffic signal systems, electrical components, and a strong understanding of ITS technology.
\n- Install new traffic signal systems, including controllers, signal heads, detectors, and other associated components.
- Ensure that installations comply with all local, state, and federal regulations, including traffic control device guidelines.
- Work with contractors, engineers, and other technicians to complete installations on time and within budget.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of traffic signal systems to ensure proper operation.
- Identify and diagnose electrical issues, faulty signal heads, malfunctioning controllers, or detection systems, and make necessary repairs.
- Respond to emergency calls for traffic signal malfunctions or failures and ensure timely repair and restoration of service.
- Perform scheduled testing and inspections of traffic signals and related components to identify potential issues before they arise.
- Assist in upgrading and retrofitting existing traffic signal systems with the latest technology, including smart signal controllers and communication systems.
- Work with the ITS team to implement improvements that enhance traffic flow, reduce congestion, and improve safety for the public.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including repairs, installations, and routine maintenance activities.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports of completed work, including any issues encountered and how they were resolved.
- Document all technical work on traffic signal systems, including configurations, wiring diagrams, and system changes.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in electrical systems, traffic management, or related fields are a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the installation, maintenance, or repair of traffic signal systems or similar ITS equipment.
- Experience with electrical systems, traffic controllers, and signal heads is required.
- Familiarity with traffic signal software or communication systems is a plus.
