Key Responsibilities for Compliance Counsel:
- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor, interpret, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Policy Development: Develop, implement, and update internal compliance policies and procedures; ensure alignment with global standards and industry best practices.
- Training & Awareness: Design and deliver training programs to employees and management on compliance topics such as anti-corruption, data privacy, trade compliance, and ethical conduct.
- Risk Assessment & Audits: Conduct internal compliance audits, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions. Lead investigations into potential compliance violations and manage responses to regulatory inquiries.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with legal, engineering, operations, HR, finance, and supply chain teams to integrate compliance into business practices and decision-making.
- Third-Party & Supply Chain Compliance: Oversee compliance due diligence related to suppliers, contractors, and partners, particularly in high-risk jurisdictions or relationships.
- Sustainability & ESG: Support initiatives related to environmental sustainability, product stewardship, and corporate responsibility.
- J.D. or equivalent legal degree; active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 5 years of legal experience with a focus on compliance.
- Strong understanding of environmental, trade, and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- High ethical standards and a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
