What are the responsibilities and job description for the Golf Course Maintenance position at Latrobe Country Club?
Primary Responsibilities (Including but not limited to)
· Operates heavy equipment, such as forklift, tractor, spreader, aerifiers, backhoe, trap rakes, triplex mowers, bush hogs, rollers.
· Operates powered mowing equipment on the tees, greens, roughs, and surrounding areas.
· Operates light motorized equipment and trucks in hauling materials and removing debris.
· Grades and prepares base, lays sod, and seeds tees, greens, roughs and fairways.
· Changes cup and tee placement in accordance with the assigned schedule.
· Replaces flags and poles as necessary to maintain appearance.
· Installs flowering annuals to golf course, clubhouse and guest house beds.
· Maintains beds by watering, trimming, dead heading and spraying for pests.
· Places and maintains indoor plants in clubhouse, spa, salon and offices.
· Edges, rakes, and maintains cart paths and bunkers.
· Trim trees and shrubbery, cultivate flowers and shrubs.
· Prepares soil and installs vegetative material on course and surrounding areas.
· Edges cart paths, edge, rake, and maintain bunkers.
· Performs all other duties that may be required by management from time to time.
Qualifications and Characteristics Required
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
· Any combination of education or experience equivalent to the graduation of high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform to the position standards. High school diploma required. Post high school education desired.
· Prior experience in golf course operations or landscape and interest in working outdoors desired.
· Small and large hand tools, power tools, gas and electric golf carts, rakes, edgers, hedgers, weed eaters, chain saw, concrete saw, and heavy equipment.
· Ability to communicate in English with staff and members
· Knowledge of mechanical operation of trucks and other motorized equipment.
· Ability to follow oral and written directions.
· Possess ability to safely operate all golf course equipment.
· Knowledge of the tools, methods and materials used in grounds and landscaped area construction and maintenance work.
Physical/Mental Requirements
· Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 80 pounds, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, walking, seeing, hearing, standing, pushing, pulling, feeling, and handling tools and heavy equipment.
· Overtime required on an as needed basis.
