This will be a Classified position.
The following information outlines the roles and responsibilities of a Transition Job Coach funded by a Transition School to Work (TSW) grant. It is a 10 month position.
- Works under the guidance of the Director of Special Education and Transition Case Manager for Laudedale County School System.
- Assists the Transition case Manager in completing referrals on students for possible Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) services.
- Attends meetings with the Transition Case Manager.
- Build positive relationships with all students receiving transition services and VR services.
- Attend district trainings and TSW Job Fairs.
- Teach students job skills, interview skills, and provide hands-on job experience within the local community.
- Teach students independent living skills, self advocacy, proper personal hygiene and how to work properly with co-workers.
- Teach a basic job skills curriculum.
- Teach students how to incorporate technology skills into a work environment.
- Communicate with high school Work Base Learning teachers.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
