The Role:
This is a senior management role in our firm and requires an enthusiastic, driven, and collaborative Senior Residential Designer to work in tandem with our design team. This role reports to the Director of Residential Design. This seat is for a highly creative and technical professional that can execute Residential Additions, Renovation Design, and large interior build-out design. This role manages a team of Junior and/or Associate level designers and is a primary point of contact for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full responsibility for managing all aspects of concurrent projects to ensure project success, through owning project schedule and deliverables
- Lead and manage a small team of designers to ensure work is executed in an scheduled manner through clear delegation of tasks
- Structured mentoring with ability to provide constructive criticism
- Provide oversight and monitoring of staff workload and scheduling on assigned projects
- Primary client liaison, with excellent client service skills, through all phases of project
- Leads all Client Meetings and Presentations throughout project
- Produce, review, and redline drawings, from Schematic Design through Construction Documents, for building code accuracy, life-safety assessment, and high-quality design execution
- Lead construction job site meetings with client and contractor
- Collaborate with internal interior design team throughout course of project
- Communicate weekly with Director of Residential Design to support Residential Design team
- Collaborate with external industry consultants, such as, contractors, engineers, and industry consultants, to keep project team on track with schedule and deliverables
- Coordinate and review contractor bids throughout Bid Negotiation phases to ensure all specifications, finishes, and project selections are accounted for in construction budget
- Create compelling architectural designs of the highest quality, with little oversight from Director of Residential Design
- Oversee budgeted hours for assigned projects and is responsible for keeping team on task, within budgeted hours for each project
- Developing proposals and contracts for potential projects, including assisting in estimating fees/hours and determining scopes of work and additional services that may be required, with oversight from Director of Residential Design
- Oversee selection of finishes and specifications as required
To Be Successful You Are:
- A Bachelors or Masters degree in architecture or interior design from an accredited program
- A minimum of 7 years of residential design experience
- Experienced in residential construction administration
- An AutoCAD expert; Revit, SketchUp, or similar a plus
- An excellent communicator, both written and verbal
- Able to interact with High-Net-Worth clients and enjoy being client facing
- Able to manage concurrent projects, maintain a balanced workflow and meet deadlines through strong organization skills
- Willing to make design and technical decisions as a leader, while including appropriate team members in decision making process, if required
