Reports To: Activities Director and Principal

Job Summary:
The Wrestling Coach is responsible for the leadership, management, and administration of the wrestling program. This includes developing student-athletes' skills, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being, and upholding the school’s mission and values. The coach will also promote a positive culture of sportsmanship and academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Leadership:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive wrestling program that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Oversee all aspects of the wrestling program, including varsity and sub-varsity teams.
• Collaborate with school administration to align the wrestling program with academic and character-building objectives.

Coaching and Instruction:

• Plan and conduct effective practices, conditioning programs, and game strategies.
• Teach and model fundamental wrestling techniques, tactics, and principles.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes.

Student Development:

• Foster an environment that prioritizes academic achievement and personal growth.
• Act as a mentor and positive role model for student-athletes.
• Monitor and support athletes' academic progress and eligibility.

Team Management:

• Recruit, retain, and develop student-athletes for participation in the program.
• Supervise and mentor assistant coaches and ensure alignment with program goals.
• Communicate effectively with players, families, and stakeholders.

Operational Duties:

• Maintain accurate records, including attendance, statistics, and equipment inventory.
• Plan and manage the wrestling program’s budget in coordination with the Activities Director.
• Ensure compliance with school, district, and state athletic policies.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Proven experience coaching wrestling at the junior high, high school or collegiate level.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their best on and off the mat.

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree in education, sports management, or a related field.
• Teaching certification and willingness to serve as a faculty member.
• Experience in program development and long-term planning.
• Familiarity with NSAA (Nebraska School Activities Association) policies and procedures.
