Job Goal :
To provide professional and efficient management of visitors, consumers, telephone calls and messages, as well as a variety of clerical duties that support office support functions, including word processings and filing.
Performs paraprofessional administrative and technical duties in the Personnel Department. Employee is responsible for answering employee questions regarding their specific areas of assignment, verification of experience, and maintaining accurate files. Employee assists employees, administrators, and the general public with staffing, experience, and compensation. Employee must exercise considerable tact and courtesy in dealing with the public and employees on a daily basis.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities :
Such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, including but not limited to :
1. Manages the site's lobby area
2. Ensures completion of paperwork, sign-in, and security procedures
3. Able to honor confidential information
4. Answer phone calls in a pleasant, informed manner for purposes of providing information and creating a good image for the school district
5. Assists in all aspects of maintaining a professional front office, including but not limited to, fielding and directing incoming calls to the appropriate staff member in a timely, professional manner
6. Understands and abides by the District's philosophy and mission statement
7. Consistently exhibit high standards of professional conduct
8. Able to sit for long periods of time
9. Type routine correspondence, memoranda, reports, and other office documents from sources such as rough drafts, notes, and oral instructions
10. Receives and refers visitors to appropriate office
11. Able to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees, parents, and the general public
12. Enter information or data to computer following established procedures
13. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
14. Supports the Laurel School District Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan
15. Coordinate and administer the pre-employment and termination process for classified employees and substitutes, including change of status, upgrades, salary, and any other changes in employment status.
16. Maintain an accurate, updated, and efficient employee working database with demographics, detailed step data, etc. to capture classified information of current employees to be retrieved in a timely manner.
17. Process applications for hiring and credentialing of employees. (e.g. E-verify)
18. Post and remove classified vacancies as indicated by Supervisor.
19. Assist with the preparation and issuance of employment letters, at-wills and other related documents to newly hired employees.
20. Maintains active / non-active employees personnel files.
21. Works individually with employees to ensure benefits are appropriated according to eligibility and choice. Presents what benefits are offered, explaining how to complete appropriate forms, and answering any questions pertaining to the benefits offered.
22. The primary representative for ESS bill reconciliation and working with schools to resolve any bill balancing concerns.
23. Performs other duties as assigned
Evaluation :
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
Scope of Work :
To support the Mission and Beliefs of the District when carrying out duties and responsibilities as assigned.
