Job Description
Job Title: Playground Leader / Playground Leader Assistant
(over 18 years of age)
Location: 3600 Rosedale Ave, Laureldale PA 19605
Purpose: To assist the Operations Supervisor and/or the playground leader with the implementation of the Summer Playground Program. Responsible for the planning, promoting, organizing and administration of the Summer Playground Program. Develop a balanced schedule of events/activities planned for the program. These events should include but are not limited to sports activities, arts & crafts, nature activities, and organized games.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Report to work and be prepared to receive the participants daily.
2. Supervise playground participants and facilities at all times.
a. Maintain supervision of the entire facility and enforce all playground rules and regulations.
b. Keep the playground areas safe and clean.
c. Maintain discipline. Refer any problems that you cannot resolve or that are regularly recurring to the Playground leader or operations supervisor.
3. Complete and turn in all written reports/forms as required on time.
a. Time sheets
b. Accident and incident forms
4. Promote a teamwork environment among the playground participants
5. Work with fellow leaders to help develop leadership skills, organizational skills, discipline and/or control of the children and situations.
6. Attempt to instill in the participants a sense of respect for each other and property through the activities and your actions as an example or role model.
7. Perform other duties as assigned by Playground Leader or Operations Supervisor.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Ability to understand, remember, and follow oral and written instructions.
· Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
· Ability to learn and perform new tasks. Show initiative to perform new tasks without direct supervision.
· Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relations with the public and all employees.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Age: Must be at least 18 years of age
· Education: Preferably at least 2 years of study at a college in the field of recreation, early elementary education, physical fitness, art, music, drama, or related field
· Experience: Leadership role with school age children or pre-school age children
· Maintain Standard First Aid and CPR certifications
Applicant must undergo and pass a background check for Child Abuse History and Criminal Activity. Release forms are available at the Borough Hall.
